Zanzibar - 'Computers for Zanzibar Schools' has been set up and registered. The board comprises a mixture of local educational and IT specialists, and is chaired by the Stone Town MP, Mahmoud Kombo. The scheme is being developed around the same model used for the other schemes. Computers are processed at a Technical Centre at Karume College in Stone Town. Distribution of the first two shipments have been made to secondary schools on both Zanzibar and Pemba islands, which each school initally getting 5 computers, to assist largely with administration. Further shipments are dependent on finding sponsors to cover shipping costs.

Tanzania - we’ve been sending computers to Tanzania for several years working with the Mesomapya Trust in secondary schools in the Dodoma area of Tanzania. However, we’ve now launched a ‘Computers for Tanzania Schools’ scheme based on the models developed in our other programmes. The scheme will initially be administered by Rotary in Dar, who are sponsoring the first year of the operation. Schools in and around Dar will be involved.

Kenya and Mozambique - in conjunction with School Aid we have shipped computers to schools supported by School Aid in Kenya and Mozambique.

Ghana , Sierre Leone , Gambia and Liberia - we have supplied computers to specific projects for schools in these counties.

Ethiopia, Niger, Sierre Leone, and South Africa - in conjunction with IT Schools Africa we have also sent computers to schools in these countries.

A list of recipient schools is shown on our Schools in other countries page.
